Crochet Class Afghan Complete!

I will be teaching a class starting in August to make this Afghan. It is a sampler afghan with 13 different blocks. The blocks start out very simple, and each new block is a new pattern that will teach a new technique or stitch. The actual finished size is approximately 40 inches square. The color pattern can be manipulated to give each person's project an individual look. I am really excited about this class. I will be putting together a book of this project to list in my etsy shop some time this fall.

Swaddle Bowl

This prop ended up being very versatile. Not only could we swaddle the baby in it, but it also added a fluffy texture for pictures with baby on his tummy.

I'll be able to make this pattern up very quickly, I'll most likely make the pattern with variations for different types of yarns...it would be a great beginner project.

Hooded Swaddle Sack

I finished this swaddle sack a few weeks ago, and then gave it to a friend who was expecting a baby boy. Last week I had the opportunity to find out if it was the right size for a newborn, and I was really happy with how it looked. This is my first attempt at a sack with a hood, and I think I really like it.
I did the bottom of the sack with a spiral pattern, it made for a nice little detail to take a picture of. I'll have to tweek it a little more, finish up the pattern and make a pink version of it. So watch for more swaddle sacks to come!

Beanie Pattern Done and Listed!

I finally finished this pattern. I made designed the layout so that it can be added to the how-to booklet that I am making. I have gotten so many complements on this hat as I have given many of them as gifts. It includes variations for 4 sizes ranging from newborn up to 5T.

Book for Beginners

I am putting the finishing touches on my first crochet book! I'm planning to make it a series, starting with the basics, and then working through a series of my patterns to learn basics and more complex crochet techniques. I'm really excited about it, and I've put a lot of work into it.

I'm planning to produce both .pdf ebooks and hard copies. Each book will be accompanied by a DVD covering the same material in greater visual detail. They will be available as a package, kit/gift package, or individually.

Swaddle Sacks

I'm trying out some new pattern ideas. I've seen lots of these swaddle sacks used for infant photography, so I decided to give it a try. Luckily, I know a mother who just had twins (one boy, and one girl) which gave me the perfect opportunity to give it a try, and take a few photos. I'll perfect my ideas and put them on etsy soon!

FINALLY finished my latest afghan pattern. I'm going to have someone give it a try before I call it done and list it on etsy. Its not too difficult, but its probably not for any beginners. Its also my first pattern I've done with my new photo editing and scrapbooking software--I'll have to re-do my old patterns and make them look as nice as this one does.

New flowers, and headbands coming!

So I designed a new flower, and I'm really excited by how it turned out. It looks great on hats and headbands, and I'm doing some more experimentation with the embellishments.

(This picture was the best I could do with a squirmy 9 month old! It'll have to do for now.)

I'm thinking that a fabric headband that matches the fabric on the button would be soooo beautiful! I'm going to try out some headband patterns and see how that turns out. I have a few more headband ideas that might work well with this flower also. I'll start listing them on etsy as soon as I feel like their ready (and I have a good picture).

The flowers have 3 tiers, about 4-4.5 inches in diameter. I love the covered button for the center, but I'm thinking a novelty button would look great, too.

I'm considering making crochet instructional videos. I was thinking about doing a simple afghan and a simple hat for beginners, then a couple more complex projects for intermediate levels. I would focus the videos on the basics of crochet, along with how to interpret patterns, measure gauges, etc. Any suggestions?

Flowers are made with cotton crochet thread. There is a wide variety of flowers that can be made to embelish hats, headbands, and clips, etc. I have a wide variety of colors and sizes. I'll post more as they come along.

I now have this beanie and its flower motif pattern available for purchase! It is very simple, perfect for beginners. Sizes included in pattern are newborn, 3-6 months, 9-18 months, and 2T-5T.

I will post more variations as I make them. These beanie style hats can be made in any of the following size ranges:

The ladybug in this picture is a novelty button. The flower and button can be removed, but I do not recommend doing so.

The flower is made of cotton crochet thread and is quite sturdy. The hat is made of all machine washable and dryable materials, but I would recommend hand washing or a delicate cycle and laying it out to dry.

These are my afghan patterns currently available.

Warm and Heavenly Puffs

This is a pattern that comes with both edging variations. It is very flexible and warm. Finished, it is about 36" x 34" . If you use Caron acrylic yarns, you can machine wash these afghans, making them easier to use without the worry of finding time to hand wash them. It is a simple pattern, and takes me approximately 10-14 hours (depending on the number of distractions) to complete.

Woven Post Blocks

This afghan is very flexible and thick. It is also about 36" x 34" finished. I made this afghan for my 3rd son. It is a wonderful afghan, and I use it regularly. This pattern comes with the flat edging instructions only. This is a more difficult pattern, and will take approximately 20+ hours for me to complete.

This is the available ruffle edging. It can be done with one color, 2 colors, or more depending on your preference. It can also be made wider for more ruffle, or smaller for a more subtle ruffle.

This is the flat woven edging. It can also be used with a variety of colors, and made to be wider or more narrow according to your preferences and abilities.
